Hi My Favorites,
Let’s Talk about it!
I know the world has often given the impression that Moms should have the “worn-down blues”! But I beg to differ! Although I personally have had my moments and those days where I was wearing my gym clothes on grocery store runs while being the mom taxi in the midst of doing laundry, cooking, and cleaning. I’m sure I looked like the “Poster Mom” for ”All over the place”. Physically that is! We have our days and we have our seasons where we are just trying to get it together while working through the busyness and tiredness or exhaustion we may feel.
I think at some point, we must admit that there are times we carry on in seasons like this longer than necessary. At some point, WE need to get up and Get out and Get Something! ( I think that’s a song, it just popped in my head! LOL! But anyway, back to what I was saying!)
What I mean is that we need a literal shift in our lives! If we sit in one season too long, we won’t be prepared for the next and as time goes on and our children grow up, we will find ourselves living out of season and on the search for purpose once again. If we are not careful, we will miss out on the joy of being present and available in the seasons they need us most.
I understand the responsibilities of parenting are major, and there is tons to do ALL the time! There are lives who are dependent upon us for everything! Even with this being so, it doesn’t negate the fact that we were chosen to not only be wonderful mothers but also chosen for so much more! SO NOW! We shouldn’t wear the weight of our responsibilities and look how we often feel, but love ourselves enough to wear the confidence of self-acceptance and show it even if we are still catching up to it. How do we do this? How do we balance? What can we do to simplify our lives so that we are not living stressed out and exhausted?
Being a MOM is a gift, we want to enjoy it! We want to maximize it, but at the same time not diminish our own worth and value in the process. Let me share with you some things I do, and maybe you can gather some takeaways to use as tips for yourself!
# 1 – Me Time. This time is very important to me. NOW, I am about to go down a rabbit hole here. ME-TIME is not designed to avoid responsibility, but to make your own needs a priority. Everyone’s needs are different, but one thing I will openly declare is this – I am a Woman of Faith, who loves and believes in Jesus! So prayer and spending time with GOD is a necessity for me! 5am is what I consider to be my “Golden hour”. I spend an hour or so or however long I need with God. During this time, I will also exercise, drink Coffee, and prep for my day before anyone in my house gets up in the morning. At the beginning of the day, I have given myself a good 2-3 hour window of peace of mind. By 8AM, I have filled my spirit with hope, peace, and proper perspective. I am ready for the day!
Disclaimer: In order for me to have Me Time successfully, I have to go to bed at a decent hour. This brings me to my next point.
#2 – ASSIGN Your kids a Bedtime. Now most of us already do that, but I like to make sure I have at least an hour or 2 to myself after the kids go to bed before I turn in for the night. (Now, I have just carved out 4-5 hours of Me-Time each day). I do not believe that it is selfish, but necessary so that I can be the best Me for my husband, my kids, myself, and others. It has taken me a long time to get to the place where I can consistently have this time to myself. It has required great discipline and strategic restructuring of my schedule. This brings me to my next point.
#3 – PLANNING! Why do sooooo many of us undervalue planning?! I suspect it is because many of us don’t really know how to. We plan to do things, we plan for busy, we plan to avail ourselves to things, but we do not plan for a Balanced Life. I talk about this in another blog post, and I also have a class solely dedicated to teaching you how to implement this principle into your life on a monthly basis. This principle is especially essential for those of us moms who are entrepreneurs, working professionals, and home makers to school aged children. Every week I take one day to plan my menu (breakfast, lunch, snacks, & dinner). I food prep our meals (family of 5) and schedule grocery pick-ups (saves tons of time & money!). On Sundays, I like to schedule out and plan my week so that I am prepared and rested for whatever lies in store for that week. I like to lay out all of my “to-do’s” and assign them to specific days of the week in an orderly fashion. I have a Plan with Me for the Fall 2021 Season coming soon to my website, so stay tuned and sign-up for my newsletter to see when this video drops!!
Well Moms,
I have thoroughly enjoyed our chat today! These are just a few things that I have done personally as a mom that have changed my Life for the better! The tips that I have shared in this blog post have taken years to develop and cultivate in my own life. My hope is that you will shortcut the learning curve that I had to endure so that you can start living your BEST, No-Stress, Balanced Life Now!
Just a quick RECAP!
1.Schedule Me-Time in your day. Prioritize this EVERYDAY!
2.Assign your kids a Bedtime. So all that you hear at night is the crickets chirping outside!
3.PLAN. This is the essential strategy behind it all!! Plan, Plan, and Plan some more!
Plan for the life you want to live each day!
Blessings To You & Yours,
Sherron
