“It’s not about adapting to the times, but to the process!”
~Sherron Barnhill
Early one morning in the midst of my quiet time I heard the words, “ It’s not about adapting to the times, but to the process!” This was in the midst of my process during the early years of building my vision. Now in our current climate I can really appreciate and understand the revelatory meaning behind these words. I’ve coined this phrase as a staple to keep in my arsenal not only for myself but to inspire others to keep building even in the midst of an uncertain climate. Times and Seasons change. Our process is ever evolving. We are constantly growing and maturing through the times and seasons of life, but if you decide to ditch the process in the unfavorable times, you will never reach the pinnacle of the vision you have for your Life & Business! Giving up, altering or even shortening the process of something can cause delays, detours, or premature and unfavorable results. These consequences can cause you to abort the process, missing out on the valuable components that are foundational for where you are going. Learning to adapt to the process, something that is continual and necessary for valuable development, regardless of the unfavorable and uncertain times that you will encounter along the way, will allow you to arrive at your appointed destination ON TIME.
I want to encourage those of you who have been personally affected by the current time, to take the necessary time to heal, recalibrate, process and examine your current situation. But even in doing so, remain faithful to your Process! If you continue to persevere you will not be disappointed when you reach your destination. In order to run your race well and complete your process with integrity, it is imperative for you to keep your focus and be at peace with your progress towards your vision.
I want to share with you a few things I do, that you can also do, to keep your focus and be at peace with your life and business progress.
#1 – Detox & Declutter by first examining your life to gain awareness of where you are. Acknowledge your current state of affairs to determine the change that needs to take place in your life and then purge out the toxins and clutter that have been preventing you from moving forward. These toxins and clutter can be in the form of unfruitful relationships or activities, too much social media, overloaded schedule, etc.
#2 – Strengthen your mind by shifting the way you think, growing your mindset, and creating a healthy mental wellness routine everyday to strengthen your mind. My healthy mental wellness routine begins with my daily morning quiet time, reading a few chapters of a book I enjoy, and ending the night by reflecting on my day and celebrating small wins I achieved during the day.
#3 – Deal with resistance. Dealing with resistance requires that you first understand exactly what the resistance is. What is that thing or those things opposing your dream? After identifying the agent or agents of resistance, you must then count up the cost of your vision and the requirements of building that vision on a firm foundation to ensure it can weather any storm.
#4 – Possess the Perseverance of a Finisher. Your ability to persevere is tested by your encounters with resistance. How will you respond when you face opposing pressures that will tempt you to quit. Prepare your mind now for your response to adversity so that you can possess the perseverance of a Finisher!
