There is a time and season for everything under the sun (Ecclesiastes 3:1), meaning there is a dispensation of grace for every season that occurs in your life, backed by the Lord when you are aligned with His will. Often, many believers spend much time working against a season delegated for them by the Lord. Every season is meant to grow, cultivate, expand, and promote you forward. However, many are toiling, with undo rest and pressure, because they are going against their appointed seasons. Some believers have been unable to discern the seasons of their lives and work appropriately.
The Lack of Rest is a Clear sign that you are at this place in your life.
The holiday season is filled with heightened anxiety, concerns, and undo rest because someone in the family or group is trying to meet the demands of everyone.
However, this very season should indeed be the total opposite for you. It should be a season filled with thanksgiving, appreciation, and most importantly, LOTS of Rest, with enjoyment of the big and little things that are easily and often taken for granted.
Hebrews 4:3 AMP states, “For we who believe (that is, we who personally trust and confidently rely on God) enter that rest (so we have His inner peace now because we are confident in our salvation, and assured of His power, just as He has said….”
We can determine from this passage that rest is an internal state. This state eliminates a person from being in high pursuit of the cares and things of this world. A state of rest consists of a person putting things to rest with total reliance on the Lord for every care and concern.
There are many characteristics of a person who lives in a rested state, but a few factors to note are that they exemplify the fruits of patience, discipline, and diligence in their life and work. They understand that through the power of God, His will for them is a guarantee.
Rest is not just an isolated period of time such as sleep or taking a vacation, but a state that a person can habitually live in according to Hebrews 4:3. When we are in a rested state, we have an inward peace that provides stability to every component of our lives, mentally, spiritually, emotionally, and physically.
The reason is that we are at a place in our lives in which we are confident in our salvation and assured in the power of God working in, through, and for us in every area of life, so there is no need for concern but just Faith and application.
One definition of the word salvation in Hebrew 4:3 AMP, according to the Blue Letter Bible, means welfare and prosperity.
I understand this to mean that when we are confident in the welfare and prosperity assured to us according to the power of God, we can rest with confidence, knowing it is the Lord who provides.
Hebrews 4:10-11 – “for the one who has once entered His rest has also rested from (the weariness and pain of) his (human) labors, just as God rested from (those labors uniquely) His own. 11) Let us therefore make every effort to enter that rest of God, to know and experience it for ourselves), so that no one will fall by following the same example of disobedience (as those who died in the wilderness)”.
It is never meant for us to work tirelessly or toilsome with weariness. In this, we understand that our work should not be centered on working to make ends meet, but rather, we should understand that our jobs and work are resources, but God is our ultimate source of provision. In understanding this, we work differently, making it easier to detach and set time aside to physically rest and enjoy the fruits of our labor. Many people find themselves under the pressure of working long hours, taking extra shifts while taking time away from the most important things, such as spending time with loved ones and resting the body, soul (mind, will emotions), and spirit.
Lastly, the word of God urges us in 1 Peter 5:8, “Be sober [well balanced and self-disciplined], be alert and cautious at all times. That enemy of yours, the devil, prowls around like a roaring lion [fiercely hungry], seeking someone to devour.” The lack of rest causes imbalances in life and an individual’s state. When your life is out of balance, it means that you are overexerting one area over the other. Imbalances push you out of a rested state, and you will begin experiencing life’s natural and spiritual disruptions.
Many believers don’t understand that REST is a weapon, so the enemy fights this area of life as hard as he can. If the enemy can keep you wearied, tired, and unrested, he can remain undetected in areas of your life. Being well-balanced with discipline is a threat to the enemy because he will not be able to gain access to your life easily.
Take heed and use the Winter season to rest! Put the necessary steps in place to align your life with a state of rest because it is one of the greatest weapons you can acquire for yourself, your family, and others connected to you.
As Always,
I am praying the Best For Your Life, Business, and success!
